Bloober Team and Anshar Studios are co-developing Saw: Genesis, a 3v1 asymmetric horror multiplayer game built on Lionsgate's Saw franchise. The game got a roughly 30-minute hands-off preview at Summer Game Fest 2026, and the team was refreshingly candid about the risks of entering this particular genre.
Bloober Team head of publishing Michał Gembicki didn't sugarcoat it: \"We know this is a saturated market. There are many corpses in it, many cadavers. We are afraid of that. We are humbled by it, so we know we need to experiment a lot.\" He also framed Saw: Genesis as a deliberate expansion beyond what Bloober is known for — the studio has established first-party titles like Cronos and Silent Hill that lean on linear storytelling, and this is a push into new territory to become \"a much broader company.\" Saw: Genesis is the first game announced under Broken Mirror Games, Bloober Team's new internal alt-label.
The asymmetric horror multiplayer space has become a graveyard for Hollywood-licensed games in recent years — big IP gets attached to a project, the game underperforms, and studios are left holding the bag. Bloober Team clearly has that history in mind.
Saw: Genesis launches into Steam Early Access later this year.
