Bandai Namco confirmed Thursday that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28. The package includes the full base game alongside the 2024 expansion Shadow of the Erdtree — everything in one release.
Switch 2 players also get a few extras that other platforms won't have at launch: new starting classes, new armor sets, and cosmetic customization options for Torrent, Elden Ring's in-game horse. Players on other platforms will be able to buy those cosmetic bonuses separately, though Bandai Namco hasn't announced pricing yet.
Getting here wasn't straightforward. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was first announced in April 2025 during Nintendo's big Switch 2 showcase, alongside ports of Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, and Hitman World of Assassination. It was originally targeting a 2025 release, but a rough Gamescom demo last summer — plagued by frame rate drops — pushed FromSoftware and Bandai Namco to delay it into 2026.
More recent showings have been considerably more promising, and August 28 is now the locked-in date for Switch 2 owners who've been waiting to play one of the best action-RPGs of the last few years.
