Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen hits Switch 2 and all platforms on October 9

Capcom used Nintendo's June 2026 Direct to announce Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen — a new expanded release coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with the Dark Arisen expansion also sold as paid DLC on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Everything lands on October 9.

Dark Arisen's headline addition is Norgan, a frozen region to the far north where players hunt powerful relics that can be appraised to unlock new gear and skills. The expansion also packs in 12 new dungeon challenges and expanded character customization — new hair and tattoo options for both players and their Pawns. Pre-ordering gets you the Northern Attire fashion set.

Alongside the expansion, Capcom dropped a two-part update roadmap for the base game. Title Update 3.1 is already live as of June 9, and it's a substantial quality-of-life pass. The biggest change is the Eternal Ferrystone — a reusable fast travel item that replaces the old consumable-only system. Additional permanent Portcrystal locations have been added at Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp. Oxcarts got cleaner map icons, extended departure windows, and stopovers. Pawns now have a Guardian specialization that lets them defend camps against oxcart raids, and Dragonsplague — the infection that can wipe out entire towns — is now more visibly tracked on the status screen. The August update goes further: it brings framerate and performance improvements across all platforms, multiple save slots (somehow missing from launch), equipment filters for inventory sorting, a Dragonsplague cure, and a long list of additional Pawn improvements.

Dragon's Dogma 2 launched in 2024 to strong reviews but persistent complaints about its limited fast travel, single save slot, and performance issues — and Capcom went over a year without a meaningful update. This roadmap, timed to the Dark Arisen launch, is the studio's first serious response to that criticism.
