Fable confirms February 23, 2027 release date as Jack of Blades returns

Playground Games dropped a new Fable story trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase, bringing back Jack of Blades — the series' most iconic villain — and locking in a release date of February 23, 2027.

The trailer stands out from previous Fable teasers, which leaned heavily into the series' signature goofiness. This one goes darker, giving a longer look at the story and signaling that the new game isn't shying away from the grimmer side of the Fable universe. Jack of Blades, the masked antagonist who terrorized players in the original Fable and its sequel, is back as the central threat.

Fable was pushed to 2027 back in late May, when Xbox said it wanted to space out its releases in a way that works best for players. With a firm date and a more serious trailer now out, the reboot finally has some real momentum heading into the back half of 2026.
