Halo: Campaign Evolved launches July 28 with new missions, multiple editions, and PS5 debut

Halo Studios confirmed at the Xbox Games Showcase that Halo: Campaign Evolved launches July 28, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 — making it the first Halo game to ever appear on a PlayStation platform. Premium and Collector's Edition owners get up to five days of early access starting July 23. The game is included with Game Pass and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.

Every edition includes the full original 10-mission campaign, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 with modern visuals, updated cinematics, and refined controls, plus Operation: METEORITE — a brand-new three-mission story arc set one year before the events of the first game. It follows Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson on a clandestine UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel, and was developed in collaboration with sci-fi author Troy Denning, whose work spans several acclaimed Halo novels. The new trailer shows UNSC squad combat, Covenant ship interiors, a new enemy type called the Brute Berserker, and even a space battle sequence. The full campaign also supports four-player network co-op. Standard Edition is priced at $49.99 / £49.99 / €59.99, with Premium Edition at $69.99.

Pre-ordering any edition unlocks the Foundry Armory Pack, which includes the Classic 2001 Mark V Armor — a faithful recreation of Chief's original green armor rebuilt for the modern engine — and the Gilded Onyx style, a black-and-gold look inspired by Forerunner design, each with a matching Assault Rifle skin. Premium and Collector's Edition buyers also get the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, adding five more Master Chief armor skins and six weapon skins at launch. Characters, Vehicles, and Weapons Art Director Bryan Repka described working on the Classic 2001 skin: "It's the OG skin, that's what everyone remembers Halo as. But when we started playing with it in-game, we realized there's something comforting and nostalgic about walking around those levels with this armor on."

The Collector's Edition goes further with a 12-inch Master Chief statue, a steelbook, art prints, and a reimagined version of the original game's manual — a nod to an era when physical game manuals were a staple of the hobby. Notably, the Collector's Edition includes a disc for Xbox and PS5 versions, though a download is still required for the full game. One detail that raised eyebrows: the new trailer was captured on PS5 Pro, an unusual flex given Xbox's recent messaging around platform identity.
