Helldivers 2 hits PS Plus Game Catalog as Devoid of Liberty update launches

Helldivers 2 lands in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog today for Extra and Deluxe members, arriving alongside the Devoid of Liberty update — a major content drop that sends players straight into the Illuminate's mysterious Void.

Devoid of Liberty introduces a new frontier built around the Void, a corrupted region of space where planets have been visibly mutated, with changes growing more extreme the closer you get to the Void's core. New mission objectives include destroying Illuminate spires and gateways, running data reconnaissance, and infiltrating Illuminate structures. Secondary objectives add variety — eradicating Void mutations, extracting research materials, and unlocking a second extraction zone on the map for faster squad evacuation. Two new enemy types are joining the roster: the Wretch, a fast and nimble creature that can overwhelm unprepared squads and dodge counterattacks, and the Crusher, a heavily armored brute that regenerates health and needs to be worn down before it recovers. On the progression side, the rank cap has been raised to 300, with new rank titles added along the way. SEAF platoons now drop in via dropship to fight alongside your squad — they provide stim-based medical support and can even be saluted, handshaked, or hugged for a morale boost.

Helldivers 2 launched in February 2024 and became one of Sony's biggest surprise hits of the year, selling millions of copies and sustaining a large active player base through regular major order events and content updates. Arrowhead Game Studios has kept up a steady cadence of patches and story-driven updates since launch, with the Illuminate faction — long teased — becoming a central part of the ongoing galactic war narrative. The PS Plus Game Catalog addition significantly lowers the barrier to entry for anyone who hasn't jumped in yet.
