Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth expansion is out now and it's the biggest DLC yet

Frontier Developments launched the Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth expansion on June 16, calling it the largest DLC in the series to date. It's available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, and brings a brand-new campaign set across three secret research locations on Île Saint-Hubert.

Senior Game Writer Ian Bousher says the expansion takes place before the prologue of the Jurassic World Rebirth film — back when the island was running at peak capacity on classified research to feed the theme parks' demand for new species. The three Research Sites each tie directly to scenes from the movie. Ancient Valley draws from the Titanosaurus sequence and puts those dinosaurs in a lush, ruin-filled natural setting. Riverside Laboratory opens with a T. rex swimming in the river, and players have to test its hunting ability by releasing Parasaurolophus into the enclosure — a nod to that iconic shot of the two species together in the film. The Main Facility is where most of the film's prologue action happens, and the expansion's opening cutscene is a deliberate homage to how that sequence was shot. Right away, players have to re-contain a rampaging Mutadon — a hybrid of Velociraptor and pterosaur DNA. Bousher says his favourite narrative moment comes late in the story and he's leaving that one for players to find.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 already leaned harder into the films' lore than its predecessors, but Rebirth pushes that further by setting an original campaign inside the continuity of a current theatrical release. The hybrid creatures and secret-facility framing give Frontier room to build story beats that feel canonical without contradicting the film.

Fans who've seen Jurassic World Rebirth will likely catch a lot of the references Bousher is hinting at. Frontier hasn't announced what comes after this expansion.
