Lego officially unveiled 12 new Pokémon Smart Play sets on Tuesday, ranging from the 88-piece Jigglypuff Concert at $14.99 all the way up to the 831-piece Umbreon vs. Garchomp Championship Battle at $79.99. All 12 are available for pre-order now.
Smart Play is built around a component called a Smart Brick — roughly the size and weight of a standard Lego brick — that adds dynamic lighting and reactive sound to a set. Smart Bricks communicate with Smart Tags and Smart Minifigures for what Lego calls "endlessly responsive play." The press release gives examples like feeding a Lego Pikachu a brick-built sandwich or tickling Charizard to trigger a laugh. Only two sets in the lineup actually include Smart Bricks in the box: Training House with Pikachu (72164, 400 pieces, $69.99) ships with one, and Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle (72167, 751 pieces, $119.99) comes with two. Everyone else will need to buy a Smart Brick separately — or pull one from a Star Wars Smart Play set.
Lego first introduced Smart Play with its Star Wars sets earlier in 2026, and the tech has been divisive mostly because of the added cost. The Pokémon brand tends to bulldoze that kind of skepticism — the 6,838-piece starter trio released this year cost $649.99 and sold out almost immediately.
The full lineup also includes Berry Bash with Bulbasaur and Bidoof (72155, 240 pieces, $19.99), Squirtle's Surfboard Wipeout (72156, 320 pieces, $29.99), Charmander and Geodude's Cavern Clash (72157, 198 pieces, $19.99), Drone Search for Mythical Mew (72161, 429 pieces, $49.99), Eevee and Lapras's Treasure Hunt (72162, 623 pieces, $59.99), Mewtwo's Lab Break (72163, 605 pieces, $69.99), Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly Battle (72158, 313 pieces, $34.99), and Cubone and Gengar's Spooky Showdown (72166, 782 pieces, $89.99).
