Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 brings Cyclops, a new K'un-Lun map, and a free Groot skin

Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 goes live on June 12, 2026 at 9:00 UTC, following a roughly two-hour maintenance window. The headline addition is Cyclops, who joins the roster as a fully playable hero.

The update also drops a brand-new map: K'un-Lun: Shenloong Arena, built for the Bounty Annihilation 18v18 mode. The arena is framed around the finals of the Immortal Weapons' Tournament of the Heavenly Cities. One caveat — the map is temporarily unavailable on Xbox Series S due to performance limitations. Alongside the map, the Shenloong Tournament event runs from June 12 to July 10, letting players unlock the Groot – Ironwood Serpent costume for free by completing event missions. The store gets several new bundles at launch: Cyclops – Weapon M Bundle, Phoenix – White Crown Phoenix Bundle, Magik – Soulless Sword Bundle, plus a Jean Grey Plush accessory and various emoji packs. The 616 Vault also opens for a two-week comeback sale from June 12 to June 26, bringing back limited-time bundles like Psylocke – Breezy Butterfly, Loki – Robe of Relaxation, and Cloak & Dagger – Polarity Bond, along with four returning seasonal events.

Three heroes get new lore entries this patch: Cyclops with Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Daredevil with Clearing the Path, and The Punisher with One Last Shot. On the esports side, new event missions tie into the playoff phase of the Marvel Rivals Ignite Series: Stage 1 — players can submit predictions and watch the in-game broadcast to complete them.
