MLB The Show 26 adds a 99-rated Tarik Skubal card to mark his Dodgers trade

MLB The Show 26 is marking Tarik Skubal's blockbuster trade deadline move to the Los Angeles Dodgers with a special Diamond Dynasty card — and it's a 99-rated one. The New Threads Trade Deadline program drops today at noon PT / 3 PM ET.

Skubal headlines the program as the only 99-rated card in the main set. The rest of the lineup: Jo Adell (98), Taylor Ward (98), Arjun Nimmala (98), Ryan Zeferjahn (97), Luke Weaver (97), Luis Castillo (97), Liam Hicks (97), Daulton Varsho (97), and AJ Minter (97). Extra booster packs reportedly include a few additional 99-rated cards beyond Skubal.

Skubal has won back-to-back Cy Young Awards with the Detroit Tigers, making him one of the best starters in baseball over the past two seasons. The Tigers dealt him at the trade deadline despite a rough year as a team — and he lands on a Dodgers squad that already boasted the best starting rotation in the league. Skubal himself hasn't been shy about it either, saying he has no sympathy for people who criticize the Dodgers for spending their way to a stacked roster.

The Dodgers have actually hit a rough patch since the trade, which has given rival fans some satisfaction. Skubal's time in a Dodgers uniform may also be short-lived — the current CBA expires soon, and a proposed salary cap is the central sticking point in negotiations, meaning the landscape could look very different by 2028.
