Nintendo Direct June 9: what to expect from the 50-minute showcase

Nintendo confirmed a new Nintendo Direct for Tuesday, June 9, streaming at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT / 3 p.m. UK time. The show runs 50 minutes and focuses on Switch and Switch 2 games coming in the second half of 2026. A 95-minute Treehouse Live segment follows immediately after, expected to go deeper on whatever Nintendo reveals.

Several Nintendo titles are already locked in for the rest of the year: Star Fox drops later this month, Rhythm Heaven Groove arrives next month, Splatoon Raiders lands in July, and Fire Emblem Shadows is set for September. On the third-party side, confirmed Switch 2 games include 007 First Light, Orbitals, Elden Ring, The Duskbloods — the Switch 2 exclusive from FromSoftware — The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok, Culdcept Begins, Village in the Shade, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. The last Nintendo Direct was in February and covered Switch 2 titles including Resident Evil Requiem, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Orbitals.

The biggest question heading into the show is whether Nintendo finally confirms The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which is reportedly targeting a Christmas 2026 release. With 2026 marking the 40th anniversary of the Zelda franchise, the timing would make sense. Rumored projects also include a new Wario game, a 2D Metroid, a Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition, and a new Switch Sports title. The Duskbloods is still reportedly on track for 2026, making this Direct a natural place to show more of it. Whether a 3D Mario — said to be a 2027 project — gets even a tease is less likely if Nintendo keeps the focus strictly on this year.

Some are also hoping for a trailer for the live-action Legend of Zelda movie due in 2027, with the franchise anniversary giving Nintendo extra reason to lean into Zelda throughout the show. All will be clear on June 9, with Treehouse Live ready to unpack the details straight after.
