Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is free on Steam until July 30

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD – the twin-stick zombie shooter with a name that sounds like a joke but isn't – has had its Steam price dropped to zero for a limited time. Grab it before July 30 and it's yours to keep.

The game puts you through a loop of shooting zombies at night and building defenses during the day: barricades, turrets, and the guns you'll need to actually mount on those turrets. It supports local and online multiplayer, has a range of weapons and traps to unlock, and carries the unmistakable look of a mid-2010s indie – which makes sense, since it launched in 2017. Steam Workshop support means you can also reskin your survivor as Hatsune Miku, Garfield, Deadpool, or Shrek, because of course you can.

The freebie is a promotional push for Yet Another Zombie Survivors, a bullet-heaven spin-off from the same developer with the same aesthetic but a very different structure – escalating hordes that eventually throw giant werewolves, mummies, and other B-movie monsters at you. It's been in early access for a while and is scheduled to hit version 1.0 on August 20.
