Alienware Area-51 16 with RTX 5080 hits its lowest price of the year at $2,779

For Prime Day, Dell has cut the Alienware Area-51 16 gaming laptop — the RTX 5080 configuration — down to $2,779.99, a $1,500 instant saving and the best price it has hit since launch.

The specific configuration on sale packs a 16-inch 2560x1600 240Hz G-Sync-compatible display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, an RTX 5080 with 16GB of VRAM, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The Area-51 itself is a step up from the older m16 line — the lid and bottom chassis are anodized aluminum with an iridescent finish, the internal frame is magnesium alloy, and Dell rates the cooling system for up to 240W TDP. The design has also been reworked with rounded edges, internally hidden hinges, and a transparent undercarriage window showing off the internals. RGB lighting is present but can be switched off.

On the GPU side, the RTX 5080 mobile sits roughly 15–20% ahead of the RTX 5070 Ti and lands in RTX 4090 territory for last-gen comparisons — with an edge in titles that support DLSS 4.5 and better power efficiency overall. At native 2.5K, the laptop should sustain 60-plus fps in any current game without much tuning required.
