Alleged Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link cinematic leaks online, fans can't agree on what it shows

A cinematic allegedly from the canceled Kingdom Hearts mobile game Missing-Link has surfaced on 4chan and spread across social media via embeds and a Google Drive link. Square Enix canceled Missing-Link in 2025, but the game was originally tied to Kingdom Hearts IV's story — so if the footage is real, it could hint at what's coming in the mainline sequel.

The clip shows a group of astronaut-style Keyblade wielders taking down a giant Heartless. Once the enemy falls, the dark void around the battle clears to reveal what looks like Quadratum — the real-world Japan-inspired setting set to play a major role in Kingdom Hearts IV. Fans theorize the squad could be soldiers from Scala ad Caelum, the origin point of all worlds in the series, who were venturing into Quadratum. The leaker also posted screenshots they claim show Brain, a character from the now-defunct Kingdom Hearts mobile games Union X and Dark Road.

Not everyone is buying it. Some players who took part in Missing-Link's beta say the footage looks nothing like what they saw — one Reddit user pointed out that Missing-Link had a steampunk visual style, and suggested the clip could be a Keyblade mod or fan art. Others have raised the possibility it's AI-generated, though that's been disputed on 4chan and elsewhere. The Kingdom Hearts subreddit has been removing all Missing-Link leak posts in line with Square Enix policy, citing a blanket ban on screenshots, video, music, story content, and assets from the canceled game.

For now, the footage's authenticity is genuinely unresolved. Kingdom Hearts IV has been officially announced and is expected to center on Quadratum, but Square Enix has shared very little about the game's story beyond its reveal trailer. Whether this cinematic is a real artifact of Missing-Link's development or an elaborate fake, the community will likely keep picking it apart until the studio says something official.
