Big Hops gets eight-player co-op in the Big Hops Together update

Big Hops – the 3D platformer where a frog uses its tongue as a grappling hook – is getting a full eight-player co-op mode. Developer Luckshot Games is calling the update Big Hops Together, and it's already live in beta ahead of an official release on 9th August.

With eight frogs on screen at once, the tongue mechanics get a lot more chaotic. You can steal items straight out of a friend's backpack with your tongue, and you can tether yourself to another player in a style similar to Chained Together – except here you can actually let go before your partner drags you into a laser. The update covers the entire campaign, so this isn't a limited side mode.

Big Hops launched as a solo platformer built around the grappling-tongue concept, and Luckshot Games says the co-op mode was inspired by Mario mods that added multiplayer to games never designed for it. That lineage shows in how the update leans into friendly chaos rather than trying to keep things tidy.

The beta is available right now, giving players a chance to test the multiplayer before the full rollout on 9th August.
