Hallmark's 2026 PlayStation Ornament Plays the Iconic Startup Sound

Hallmark has unveiled its 2026 Keepsake Ornament lineup, and the gaming highlight is a miniature recreation of the original PlayStation — complete with the console's iconic startup sound and light effects. It's the first time Hallmark has made a PlayStation console ornament, and it's available exclusively through Hallmark for $28.99.

The ornament measures four inches wide and was designed by artist Orville Wilson. It recreates the original PlayStation in impressive detail — Power, Reset, and Open buttons are all present, the disc drive slot is visible, and tiny AC and AV ports are modeled on the back. An original DualShock controller sits on top, connected with a wired cable just like the real thing. Press the Power button and a green light activates alongside that unmistakable startup chime. The whole thing runs on three replaceable LR44 button batteries.

Hallmark's annual Keepsake Ornament Premiere is a week-long event this year revealing over 250 new ornaments, with a second wave of roughly 150 more coming in September. Nintendo is also getting significant attention in the 2026 collection — a Yoshi ornament with motion effects nods to the Hatchin Yoshi toy tied to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and a Santa Pikachu tree topper sits atop a light-up Poké Ball. Xbox is notably absent from this reveal, though Hallmark has a long history with Microsoft's console, including a previous ornament of the original Xbox that plays the Halo: Combat Evolved theme.

For anyone who grew up with the original PlayStation, the startup sound alone is enough to trigger serious nostalgia — especially given Sony's ongoing push toward a fully digital game library. The ornament is available now exclusively through Hallmark's own channels, while most other 2026 Keepsake Ornaments will also be sold on Amazon.
