The project is based on Team Cherry's acclaimed Metroidvania and features designs inspired by the game's iconic characters and world.

Hollow Knight has built one of the most dedicated fanbases in indie gaming since its 2017 release — a community that has kept the game in conversation for nearly a decade, partly through fan art, merchandise, and projects exactly like this one. Lego Ideas has successfully turned fan submissions into real sets before, with past approvals including sets based on properties like Sonic the Hedgehog and various other gaming franchises, so the pipeline is proven.
