Makinarium is making a limited-edition T-800 eye collectible, and only 800 people can own one

Makinarium, the prop and costume studio behind blockbuster productions including Mission: Impossible, Jurassic World, and Star Wars, is launching a premium collectibles line called Makinarium Studio Edition — and its first release is a hand-finished replica of the T-800's eye from the original Terminator films.

The piece is called the T-800 Optics, officially licensed from both The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It's strictly limited to 800 units, sold across the US, UK, and Europe, and every single one is hand-made at Pinewood Studios by the same crews who build props for actual film productions. Each unit comes with a display cradle designed to look like a damaged battlefield component — the kind of thing you'd pull off a wrecked endoskeleton — and is embedded with a secure NFC chip powered by Fan Connect. Tap it with a smartphone and it opens a digital portal tied to that piece's unique serial number, giving owners a verifiable certificate of authenticity and provenance. No batteries, no factory line, no mass-market shortcuts.

Creative Director Jet Cooper, whose prop credits include Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Skyfall, says the shape was deliberately designed to be tactile — something cold and metallic you'd want to pick up, roll around in your hands, and show off. Chief Strategy Officer Lee Kirton frames the ambition clearly: the goal isn't to compete with mass-market licensed merchandise but to sit closer to the luxury end of the spectrum.
