Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls drops from 132 to 117 region-locked countries on Steam

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has quietly shed 15 countries from its Steam purchase block, going from 132 banned regions down to 117. The change was spotted via the game's SteamDB listing and reported by Automaton.

The 15 countries removed from the "this package can NOT be activated or purchased" list are Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Pakistan, the Philippines, Serbia, and Uzbekistan — a cluster of Eastern European and Western Asian nations, with a few outliers. The Vatican City State remains blocked, so the Pope is still not getting his Captain America vs Spider-Man brawls. Whether this is the beginning of a broader rollback is unclear; the region locking has generally been assumed to tie into PSN account requirements, though Marvel Tokon's situation has always been a bit murkier than Helldivers 2's infamous PSN debacle — the Steam page only mentions a PSN account being required for online play and certain features, not as a blanket login gate.

Helldivers 2 faced massive backlash in 2024 when Sony tried to enforce mandatory PSN account linking for PC players, eventually reversing course after a community revolt. Marvel Tokon appears to be navigating similar territory, though Arc System Works and the publishers haven't made any official statement explaining the partial unblock or what the end goal looks like.

For now, 117 countries still can't buy the game on Steam, so the situation is far from resolved. Whether the remaining blocks come down gradually or all at once — and whether an official explanation ever arrives — remains to be seen.
