PlayStation FlexStrike fight stick delayed indefinitely, misses Marvel Tokon launch

Sony's FlexStrike wireless fight stick has been delayed indefinitely and will no longer ship alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on August 6. The company cited unexpected production delays, saying it needs extra time to put the finishing touches on the product.

Sony announced the delay via the PlayStation Blog, offering no new release window beyond a vague promise of more information "soon." Pre-orders placed through direct.playstation.com can check order status on the site; anyone who ordered through a third-party retailer should contact that retailer directly. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls itself is still launching August 6 as planned. The FlexStrike is priced at $200 — on par with competitors like the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha at $200 and the Razer Kitsune at $220. PC compatibility was already confirmed as a post-launch addition even before the delay.

The FlexStrike is Sony's first official fight stick for the PS5, part of a broader push into gaming peripherals that also includes a 27-inch gaming monitor and a desktop speaker — both still on track for their August 27 launches. Kotaku got hands-on time with the fight stick at Evo 2026 and came away impressed by its ergonomics, specifically its upward tilt toward the back that keeps wrists in a more natural position during play. The timing was clearly designed to ride the hype of Marvel Tokon's release, so losing that launch window is a real blow to the peripheral's momentum.

With no new date on the table, fight stick fans who were planning to pick one up alongside Marvel Tokon are now left waiting. Sony says more details are coming soon, but for now the game launches without its dedicated hardware partner.
