Sony's FlexStrike Fight Stick Delayed Indefinitely Due to Production Issues

Sony has postponed the launch of its FlexStrike wireless fight stick to an undetermined date, citing unexpected production delays. The peripheral was originally set to release on August 6, 2026 — now it will arrive after Marvel Tokon, making it miss a major fighting game event it was presumably targeting.

PlayStation announced the delay on July 14, 2026 via its official blog. The company blamed "unexpected production delays" and said the FlexStrike will launch at a "later date," promising another update "soon." In the post, PlayStation wrote: "We're working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we're taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches." Pre-orders opened on June 27, and anyone who ordered directly through PlayStation can still check their order status on the PlayStation website. Those who pre-ordered through a third-party retailer need to contact that retailer directly.

The FlexStrike is PlayStation's first-ever officially made fight stick, priced at $199.99 and compatible with both PS5 and PC. It was built with tournament play in mind, featuring a rechargeable battery — a detail that initially earned it cautious praise from the fighting game community. The delay lands at a rough time for Sony: the company is already facing significant backlash over its decision to move away from physical game releases, and the FlexStrike news is drawing additional criticism from players across genres who are losing patience with the brand.
