The Finals Season 11 is live, and after hands-on time with the update, it's the strongest the game has felt since launch. Embark Studios packed this season with a new map, a full melee overhaul, and a ranked matchmaking tweak that solo queue players have wanted for a long time.

Galaxy Estates is the new cashout arena — a Gundam-style space colony with residential zones, zero-gravity towers, and speed floors concentrated around the map's centre. Those speed floors let you carry momentum in ways the game hasn't allowed before, opening up movement tech that feels genuinely fresh. The map's mix of low-gravity verticality and fast ground lanes gives it a distinct identity compared to anything already in the pool.

The melee rework is the headline mechanical change. Every melee weapon now has a universal lunge on attack, gated by a new stamina bar — but the bar only limits how often you can lunge, not your damage or movement speed. Damage numbers are up across the board compared to Season 10, but a new targeting reticle adds a skill ceiling: land a direct hit and you deal full damage, miss slightly and it drops off. The intent is to reward players who are actually good at melee while defanging weapons like swords that were frustrating to play against. In practice it works — melee feels competitive rather than gimmicky, and more viable in ranked tournaments alongside ranged builds.

On the ranked side, personal performance now factors into the rating calculation at the end of each tournament, not just win or loss. For solo queue players who were previously punished by teammates, that's a meaningful shift. Embark has signalled that Season 12 will bring larger changes still, so Season 11 reads as a focused quality-of-life pass before something bigger — and on that front, it delivers.
