Train Simulator Classic's 790-piece DLC collection is 'on sale' for $6,934 during Steam Train Fest

Steam Train Fest is live, and the headline act is Train Simulator Classic — a sim so committed to DLC that it has 790 separate add-ons available. The base game is 80% off at $6, and nearly all of that DLC is discounted between 20% and 80% off.

Buying every single piece of DLC at full price would set you back $15,621.11. With Train Fest discounts applied, the grand total drops to roughly $6,933.80 — about 55% off. That figure took some serious manual effort to calculate: Steam caps DLC list display at 200 entries, won't let you bulk-add everything to a cart, and even the Augmented Steam browser extension couldn't automate the process. The final number came from copy-pasting raw data into a spreadsheet and calculating by hand.

Train Simulator Classic has built a reputation over the years as the DLC-heaviest game on Steam, with add-ons covering real-world routes, locomotives, and liveries from railways around the world. The sheer volume means most players only ever buy a handful of packs for routes they care about — the full-collection figure is more of a curiosity than a realistic purchase.

If you want train games that won't cost more than a used car, Train Fest has newer options too. Denshattack and survival game EverRail both launched this month — EverRail is 10% off — and strategy game Fogpiercer, also out in July, is 25% off. Monster Train 1 and 2 are notably absent from the sale, which feels like a missed opportunity.
