Warframe's Epoch Operation: Taubound launches October 15, finally heading to the Tau star system

Digital Extremes is sending Warframe players to Tau — the distant star system teased since the game's early days — through a new community event called Epoch Operation: Taubound, launching October 15 and running until November 17.

The event is built around cooperative play on Eris in The Origin System. Players destroy Infested enemies to collect a new resource called Moonflesh, which powers up the Sentient Mothership Praghasa and can be traded for event rewards. Those rewards include new Armor Sets, exclusive Honoria, Somachords, Glyphs, Sigils, Floofs, Syandanas, Signas, Badges, and Blueprints. Alongside the event, Digital Extremes is also releasing Prologue to Tau — a permanent, single-player cinematic quest that lets players interact with The Lotus for the first time, as previewed during TennoLIVE 2026. Players who customized a Vessel during TennoCon can also deploy it on Eris and take on a large Infested boss fight. Both the Prologue and the Vessel content are permanent additions to the Quest Codex, not time-limited, but require completion of The Hex and The Old Peace quests to access.

Warframe has been building toward Tau narratively for years — it's been referenced as a far-future destination since the game's early lore, tied to the Sentients and the broader conflict that underpins the entire story. The game launched on Xbox One in 2014 and has since expanded across two console generations, adding cross-play and cross-save to connect its Xbox player base with the wider global community. This announcement was framed specifically around the Xbox community, with Digital Extremes highlighting over 13 years of player feedback, fan art, and direct communication as part of the relationship.

Epoch Operation: Taubound is a one-time event, so Xbox players have a firm deadline of November 17 to earn the exclusive cosmetics before they're gone. With Prologue to Tau setting the narrative stage, this looks like the opening move in what Digital Extremes is calling the next major chapter of Warframe's story.
