Xbox Insiders get longer gamertags, Xbox 360 achievement hubs, and cloud play during updates

Microsoft is rolling out a batch of Xbox console updates to Alpha Skip-Ahead Insiders starting today, covering gamertags, Game Hubs, wishlists, and cloud gaming. The changes come from Senior Product Manager Alex Charters and Principal Software Engineering Lead Eden Marie, with broader Insider rings to follow after this initial preview.

The headline change: unique gamertags now support up to 15 characters, up from the previous 12-character cap. The expanded limit only applies to gamertags that are unique and available — non-unique tags or those with non-Latin characters still top out at 12 and may carry a suffix. On the achievement side, Xbox 360 games now get proper Game Hubs inside their game cards, letting you check achievement progress, captures, and other info at a glance. Detailed achievement popups are also available from any Xbox 360 game's achievement list in your profile. The wishlist gets a small but useful upgrade too — you can now add both released and upcoming games directly from a game card, turning it into a one-stop spot to track titles you want to play. Finally, if a game needs an update and it's available to stream via Game Pass, you can jump straight into cloud gaming while the update downloads in the background, with the option surfaced directly from the game card.
