Apex Legends anti-cheat team hands 258 Predator players 60-day bans for account sharing

Respawn's Anti-Cheat team has suspended 258 Apex Predator-ranked players for 60 days after an investigation into account sharing on PlayStation and Xbox. The crackdown follows community reports of suspiciously long, unbroken Ranked sessions from high-ranked accounts.

The team reviewed login activity and device data tied to top-ranked accounts and confirmed multiple distinct devices accessing the same accounts — a pattern consistent with account sharing to inflate leaderboard positions. Of the 258 suspensions, 115 hit PlayStation players and 143 hit Xbox players. On PlayStation, 92 were flagged for frequent sharing, 2 for sharing across five or more devices, and 21 for both. On Xbox, 124 were frequent sharers, 2 accessed accounts from five-plus devices, and 17 fell into both categories. All affected accounts also had their Ranked points wiped.

Account sharing violates Apex Legends' Terms of Service and is treated as a competitive integrity violation — the same category as boosting or rank manipulation. The Predator tier sits at the very top of Apex's Ranked ladder, making leaderboard accuracy especially visible to the community. Respawn has run similar enforcement waves in the past, but this update is notable for the detailed breakdown by platform and violation type.

The team also addressed community claims that some bans were false positives tied to Bot Royale matches. After reviewing the flagged accounts and revalidating the enforcement, Respawn confirmed the bans were legitimate. The studio says it will keep monitoring Ranked play and act on further cases of account sharing or other abuse.
