Bethesda is bundling free ESO copies with Travis Baldree's new fantasy novel

Bethesda has teamed up with UK publisher Tor to give away free PC copies of The Elder Scrolls Online with the paperback release of Brigands & Breadknives, the third book in Travis Baldree's Legends and Lattes cosy fantasy series. The promotion is live now across UK bookstores.

The codes are printed on a sticker inside the first print run of the paperback, which retails for around £10 in stores like Waterstones and Foyles, or £8.49 on Amazon UK. The offer is capped at the first 10,000 sign-ups, redeemed through Tor's dedicated page. Shoppers at participating physical bookshops also get a branded bookmark with a secondary code that unlocks a Pink Torchbug pet in ESO. For reference, ESO normally goes for £15.99 on Steam, though it recently dropped to £3.99 during Bethesda's 40th Anniversary sale. Tor framed the collaboration as a crossover for "cosy fantasy book lovers and gamers", nudging Baldree's readers toward building their own adventure in Tamriel.

ESO launched in 2014 and has kept going for over a decade through expansions, regular content updates, and a steady stream of new players via subscription services and sales. The game has faced some uncertainty recently — ZeniMax and Microsoft had to reassure fans that ESO isn't going anywhere despite a round of Xbox layoffs — but the studio has been clear it's still actively supported.
