Blizzard adds age verification to Battle.net for UK players under the Online Safety Act

Blizzard has rolled out age verification on Battle.net, targeting UK players who have their age listed as 18 or over. Anyone in that category who skips verification risks losing access to voice chat, text chat, and age-restricted content across games like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Diablo 4.

The verification process lives in Account Settings — look for the Age Verification banner. You can confirm your age via government-issued ID, a credit card check, or mobile provider verification. Blizzard says the move is driven by the UK Online Safety Act, but also frames it as part of broader investment in age-appropriate experiences. Players outside regions where verification is legally required are unaffected and can keep using Battle.net as normal. If you skip it now but change your mind later, completing verification immediately restores full account access with no lasting restrictions.

The UK Online Safety Act has been pushing platforms across the industry to implement stricter age-gating, and Blizzard is one of several major publishers now rolling out compliance measures.
