Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand is a standalone wave defense spin-off launching July 29

Relic Entertainment has announced Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, a standalone wave defense game set in the Company of Heroes universe. It launches on July 29 and is available to wishlist on Steam right now.

Final Stand drops the traditional RTS format in favor of escalating enemy waves, powerful bosses, and dynamic battlefield events. Four factions are playable across five dedicated maps, each faction bringing unique abilities and progression paths. A roguelite system underpins the whole thing, pushing replayability and experimentation. Eight difficulty levels cover everything from casual to brutal, and the game supports both solo play and two-player co-op. It costs $30, but Company of Heroes 3 owners get a 20% discount at checkout.

Relic framed Final Stand as a way to capture those high-pressure, do-or-die moments that define the series — the kind where preparation and quick decisions are the only thing standing between your troops and a wipe. The studio says players can jump straight in without any prior knowledge of the franchise, which makes sense given the format: wave defense is a much lower barrier to entry than a full RTS. This announcement comes alongside the previously revealed Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition, a remake marking the series' 20th anniversary, so Relic is clearly pushing hard on the CoH brand this year.

Final Stand looks more like a standalone mode than a full sequel, but Relic is shipping it as its own product. Whether the $30 price tag feels justified will probably depend on how deep the roguelite progression actually goes — that's the detail the community will be watching closely once hands-on impressions start rolling in.
