Deep Rock Galactic Rocktoberfest 2026 kicks off September 24 with new hat and double XP

Deep Rock Galactic's annual Rocktoberfest event returns on Thursday, September 24 at 13:00 CEST and runs for two weeks. This year's celebration brings new cosmetics, returning rewards, and the usual double XP incentive for anyone willing to dig up a beer mug mid-mission.

The headline new reward is the Freihand Tap Cap, a hands-free beer hat unlocked by completing this year's Rocktoberfest Assignment. Players who never grabbed the Lederhosen cosmetic from previous years can complete the Hunt for Lederhosen Assignment to claim it — and that same assignment also hands out all prior Rocktoberfest hats, so latecomers can catch up on the full collection. The Best Wurst Beer returns to the Abyss Bar as well, the in-universe sausage-and-lager combo that Ghost Ship Games credits — tongue firmly in cheek — with boosting miner productivity. Find and deposit a Wurst Stein mug during a mission and your entire team earns double XP for that run. The Space Rig itself gets the seasonal treatment too, with checkered tablecloths and pretzel decorations dressing up the Abyss Bar for the duration.

Rocktoberfest is one of Deep Rock Galactic's longest-running seasonal events, leaning hard into the game's dwarf-and-beer identity that has made it a cult favourite since its 2020 full release. Ghost Ship Games has consistently used these limited-time events to hand out cosmetics that are otherwise unobtainable, which gives even veteran players a reason to log back in. The double XP mechanic tied to scavenging Wurst Steins is a neat loop — it rewards players for engaging with the event's theming rather than just passively collecting a login reward.
