Diablo 4's next class is the Amazon, arriving in the first half of 2027

Blizzard has officially confirmed the Amazon as Diablo 4's next playable class, with a launch window set for the first half of 2027. The iconic Diablo 2 warrior brings javelins — a brand-new weapon type for the game — alongside her existing bow skills.

Senior Game Director Brent Gibson and Senior Game Producer Tiffany Wat made the announcement, with Gibson noting that the Amazon's identity "really took shape" during the development of the Lord of Hatred expansion. He describes her playstyle as built around "speed, precision, and absolute control over the battlefield." Wat added that player demand was immediate after Lord of Hatred launched — fans were already asking where the Amazon was. A deeper look at the class is coming during the Diablo developer showcase at BlizzCon.

The Amazon's absence from Lord of Hatred was conspicuous given that the expansion took players to Skovos, the Amazon's home region in Diablo lore. The expansion already brought back the Paladin as a returning class and introduced the Warlock as a newcomer, so the Amazon feels like unfinished business. Blizzard also confirmed Diablo 5 at BlizzCon 2026, but that's still years out — Gibson and Wat are clearly signaling that Diablo 4 has a long runway ahead of it.

Before the Amazon arrives, Diablo 4 is marking the series' 30th anniversary with Season of Hell's Legacy, launching September 15. The seasonal update brings back all three Prime Evils — Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto — and even finds a way to bring back Deckard Cain. The core mechanic has players defeating echoes of each Prime Evil to collect Splinters of Evil, which can be equipped to trigger iconic powers in combat at the cost of increased vulnerability to that evil's influence. Rewards include gear inspired by every era of the franchise.
