Dimhaven - The Lost Source launches today with a camera, a missing uncle, and a foggy island full of puzzles

Dimhaven - The Lost Source, a mystery adventure puzzle game from Zadbox Entertainment — the studio behind Quern — is out today on PC, with a free demo available on Steam.

You play as Emily Ravenstone, a museum curator who arrives on a remote, European-inspired island shrouded in mist to find her missing uncle. The island itself is the central puzzle, and the mystery of the uncle's disappearance is apparently just one thread in a larger web. Puzzles lean Myst-style — numbers, positions, locks — but also get weirder: there's a faux NES minigame where you pilot a spaceship, a sudoku-like photo-sketching mechanic, and at least one sequence involving cleaning a door handle with a sponge. The photography mechanic is central to the whole thing: you carry a camera that takes pseudo-polaroids of clues, all of which get stored in a browsable notebook. It's tactile in a way that feels deliberate and charming. Visually, the game sits in an odd but appealing space — PS3-era lighting layered over PS1-style character models — and the atmosphere is thick enough to carry the premise.

Zadbox Entertainment previously released Quern - Undying Thoughts, a well-regarded first-person puzzle game in the same Myst-adjacent tradition, so there's a clear lineage here. Dimhaven looks to push that formula with the photography hook and a more grounded, character-driven mystery rather than pure environmental puzzling.
