The post racked up 4.3 million views and 16K likes within days, with replies flooded by fans convinced FromSoftware is teasing something. The Siofra River setting is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the theory department: players note the area connects to Deeproot Depths via the Siofra Aqueduct and a transporter coffin, and Deeproot Depths is closely tied to Godwyn the Golden — a fan-favourite character whose story many felt was left unresolved. Others noticed the video appears to show one of Torrent's new skins, which aren't yet widely available, adding another layer of speculation. The clip also conspicuously lacks the giant crabs and Ancestral Followers that normally populate the area, which some read as a deliberate choice rather than a coincidence.

The more grounded explanation is that FromSoftware is building momentum for the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release that bundles the base game with Shadow of the Erdtree and includes new cosmetic content — including those Torrent skins, which will also roll out to other platforms soon. The post's tone is also unusual for the account, which typically either makes direct announcements or stays completely silent, making this kind of atmospheric, quote-bait content stand out. There's also the A24 live-action Elden Ring movie to consider: the production wrapped filming earlier this week and is targeting a March 3, 2028 release, so a promotional push around that isn't out of the question either.

For now, there's no concrete evidence a second paid expansion is in development, and FromSoftware hasn't said a word beyond the post itself. That hasn't stopped fans from showing up in force to beg for a Godwyn DLC — and given how loudly the community is reacting, FromSoftware almost certainly knows exactly what it's doing.
