Final Fantasy Resonance has no physical Xbox edition, Switch 2 gets a Game-Key Card

Final Fantasy Resonance launches October 22 on PS5, Switch 2, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for $49.99 standard. Preorders are open now across two editions, but Xbox players have one less option than everyone else — there is no physical release for Xbox Series X|S, only a digital purchase through the Xbox Store.

The standard edition is available physically at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart for PS5 and both Switch platforms. Switch 2 owners should note their physical copy comes on a Game-Key Card rather than a traditional cartridge. The Digital Deluxe Edition runs $59.99 on PS5, Xbox, and PC — Switch versions of the deluxe edition have no price or date listed yet. That upgrade adds the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack, which includes a Magitek Armor Key to reskin your chocobo, the Archwitch's Grimoire to unlock a character's Fel Meteor Limit Burst, and a handful of consumables like Mastery Rings, Tents, Mist Potions, and Phoenix Downs. Anyone who preorders any version gets a separate bonus bundle: a Magitek Airship Passkey to reskin your airship, the Chestplate of Preparation, a Knight's Greatsword, a Magicite Shard, and more consumables.

Final Fantasy Resonance is a turn-based RPG built in Square Enix's HD-2D visual style — the same engine behind Octopath Traveler and the HD-2D remake of Final Fantasy VI that fans keep begging for. The game adapts the story of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, the mobile gacha title that ran for years before shutting down, and rebuilds it as a proper single-player RPG with a new overworld and battle system. Classic Final Fantasy touchstones are all present: world crystals, chocobos, airships, summons, and the ability to call in iconic characters from across the series — Cloud, Zidane, and Lightning among them — as battle assists.
