Flamecraft heads to PS5 this year, demo out now on PlayStation Store

Monster Couch's cozy dragon strategy game Flamecraft is coming to PS5 later this year, and a free demo is already live on PlayStation Store so you can get a taste before launch.

The demo lets you explore a selection of the game's unique shops, meet both Artisan and Fancy Dragons, and jump into matches against bot opponents across three difficulty levels. Local multiplayer supports up to five players, and a built-in tutorial covers the basics of being a Flamekeeper. In the full game, you take on the role of a Flamekeeper — someone who can communicate with dragons — and your job is to place Artisan Dragons into shops around a shared town, building resource combos and chaining enchantments to rack up Reputation points. Every dragon placed and every shop that opens becomes part of a communal engine all players can tap into, which means your clever setup can just as easily benefit your opponents. Fancy Dragons add another layer, bringing unique abilities and special scoring conditions that can reshape your strategy on the fly. The full game supports solo play, local co-op and versus with bots, and online multiplayer.

Flamecraft started as a physical board game designed by Manny Vega and published by Cardboard Alchemy, where it built a following for its accessible ruleset and charming dragon-and-shopkeeper aesthetic. Monster Couch, the studio behind the digital adaptation, has previous experience bringing tabletop games to screens. The digital version adds online multiplayer and solo achievement runs on top of the base board game experience, making it a natural fit for players who want the tabletop feel without needing to gather everyone around a table.

No specific PS5 release date has been announced beyond "later this year," but the demo being live now suggests the launch window isn't too far off. If the demo lands well with the PlayStation community, it could help build momentum ahead of a proper release date reveal.
