Forgotten Odysseys is a lethal Mörk Borg hack inspired by The Odyssey and Final Destination

D&D Beyond founder Adam Bradford is Kickstarting Forgotten Odysseys, a deadly TTRPG built on the Mörk Borg system, running until July 23. The game puts players in the sandals of Trojan War survivors — called Seekers — trying to reach the Sparkling Island of Telos rather than Ithaca, with Bradford naming the destination after the Greek word for "goal."

The inspiration is a mix of Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Odyssey film, whose first trailer Bradford caught in 2025, and Final Destination. The main antagonist is Eris, goddess of strife, who believes the Seekers should have died at Troy and has recruited Nemesis to hunt them down. Bradford describes Eris as a villain whose motivation is at least understandable — she thinks the natural order has been violated and is just correcting it. The lethality is intentional: Bradford says only one playtest group has actually made it home so far, and that hopelessness is the point. "When you do make it home, the amount of elation and utter joy that they experience felt like it recreated the experience of reading The Odyssey for the first time," he told Polygon.

Mörk Borg is a Swedish OSR-adjacent TTRPG known for its apocalyptic tone, brutal difficulty, and striking graphic design — it has spawned a large ecosystem of third-party hacks, and Forgotten Odysseys slots into that tradition. Bradford also designed Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying for Free League Publishing, so he has form with licensed and high-concept TTRPG projects. Choosing Mörk Borg as the chassis makes sense for a story where Odysseus famously lost almost his entire crew before reaching home.

The Kickstarter runs through July 23. No stretch goals or pricing tiers were detailed in the announcement, but the campaign is live now for anyone who wants to try cheating death alongside Bradford's Seekers.
