Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Override teased with Gaming Legends posters, Sprites confirmed to carry over

Epic Games is teasing Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 — officially subtitled Override — with in-game posters and a cryptic "Break the rules. Change the game" message, pointing to a full Gaming Legends crossover season. The season launches August 20, and a story event is expected on August 15, a few days before Chapter 7 Season 3 wraps.

Dataminers found the posters buried in the files of patch v41.30, the final update of the current season, which also brought back The Simpsons, unvaulted Spider-Man's Web-Shooters, and added new Sprites. Leaker ShiinaBR confirmed the posters share file space with story event assets, making the Gaming Legends connection almost certain. Expected franchises include Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona, Tetris, Pac-Man, Kingdom Hearts, and Mega Man. Epic VP Mark Rein has already dropped his traditional one-word season tease: "Hackers."

Sprites — the Pokémon-style collectibles that became one of Fortnite's biggest recent hits — are confirmed to stick around for Season 4. Epic's community blog promises a second generation of Sprites, new powers, quality-of-life improvements, and new ways to discover them in and out of matches. A new Sprite Garden feature lets players showcase their collections and visit friends' gardens, carrying over both Season 3 and incoming Gen 2 Sprites. Season 4 also adds five community-designed Sprites from a contest that drew over 20,000 entries: the Bullet Sprite (more ammo from boxes), Honey Sprite (bees retaliate against attackers), Pond Sprite (faster swimming and higher jumps), X-Ray Sprite (see enemies through walls), and the Dumpster Dive Sprite (loot from jumping into dumpsters).

With the story event on August 15 and the season launch five days later on August 20, more teasers are expected to appear on the Battle Royale island in the days ahead. The Gaming Legends category already exists in Fortnite's locker for video game cosmetics, so a full season built around it is a natural escalation — and given how well Sprites landed this season, carrying them forward with a fresh generation looks like a smart move from Epic.
