Star Wars: Smuggler's Gambit Is a Fortnite Experience That Bridges the Theme Park Ride and Your Living Room

Star Wars: Smuggler's Gambit is an upcoming Unreal Engine Fortnite experience that expands on the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run ride found at Disneyland and Disney World's Galaxy's Edge. It's a PvE multiplayer game built around the same crew roles as the physical ride — Pilot, Gunner, and Engineer — and it connects to the real world in a tangible way: link your Epic Games and MyDisney accounts via QR code and you unlock a special experience on the actual Smuggler's Run attraction at the parks.

The hub area is set on Ord Ryla, centered on a grounded ship called the Scuttled Sparrow. From there, players vote on missions, head to the dock, and board a ship to start the quest. Hondo Ohnaka is present and voiced by Jim Cummings reprising the role. Gameplay follows familiar Fortnite structure — waypoints, HUD-tracked objectives, optional side goals — but difficulty scales up fast. Even on normal settings, stormtroopers armed with plasma cutters and grenade launchers can overwhelm a disorganized squad. Weapons level up as you play, and a starting blaster rifle becomes noticeably more capable by level 6, rewarding players who aim down sights and coordinate with teammates rather than just spraying.

Smugglers' Run the ride has been part of Galaxy's Edge since Disneyland's version opened in 2019, and it recently got a Mandalorian re-theme that swapped out the sequel trilogy framing for a Grogu-centric storyline. Smuggler's Gambit feels like a natural extension of that IP — Epic has been aggressively building out licensed Fortnite experiences, and a Star Wars collaboration with a direct Disney Parks tie-in is a bigger swing than most. The three-class system mirrors the ride's crew roles closely enough that fans of the physical attraction will recognize the structure immediately, while the progression and mission variety give it legs beyond a one-time novelty.

The preview suggests content depth isn't a concern — there are multiple missions on offer and higher difficulty tiers that will push coordinated groups. The Disney Parks integration is the wildcard: what exactly unlocks on Smuggler's Run when you link accounts hasn't been revealed yet, but it's the kind of cross-platform hook that could drive real foot traffic both ways — into the game and into the parks.
