Framework cuts LPCAMM2 memory prices and retroactively refunds customers who already paid more

Framework is pushing back against the ongoing memory price crisis with an actual piece of good news: the company has secured a limited batch of Micron 32 GB and 64 GB LPCAMM2 modules at a lower cost and is passing those savings directly to customers — including ones who already received their orders.

Framework announced on X that it is retroactively reducing prices for orders that have already shipped at the higher rate, and extending the lower pricing to new orders through Batch 10. The company is clear that this latest pricing is still above its original pre-order launch baseline — back in July, Framework had warned that its supplier's memory prices had more than doubled compared to the previous shipment — but the new cost is lower than the price that has been driving current pre-order pricing. Stock is limited and allocated first-come, first-serve through Batch 10; if additional supply is secured, Framework says it will open availability to later batches and eventually new pre-orders. Framework has built its reputation around repairability and user-friendly upgrades, and this move fits that ethos. The LPCAMM2 standard — a newer, more compact memory form factor designed for thin laptops — has been caught up in the broader memory supply crunch hitting the industry in 2025, making Framework's willingness to absorb margin pressure and issue retroactive refunds stand out. It draws a natural comparison to Panic, whose co-founder Cabel Sasser essentially argued that savings passed on by suppliers aren't the company's money to keep — Framework appears to operate by the same logic.
