Frontier's next Planet game is a brand-new setting – no zoo, no coaster in sight

Frontier – the studio behind Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster – has confirmed a new Planet game is in development, and it's neither a zoo nor a rollercoaster park. Head of player engagement Richard Stephenson announced the project in a Discord post, describing it as a brand-new setting that still carries the creativity, management, and simulation DNA the series is known for.

Stephenson's post, preserved on Reddit, keeps the actual theme under wraps for now. Frontier says the game is still early enough that players have roughly a year or two before more details surface.

It's a notable move for a studio that has built its identity around the Planet brand – Planet Coaster launched in 2016, Planet Zoo in 2019, and Planet Coaster 2 followed in 2024. A third distinct setting suggests Frontier is confident the formula works beyond theme parks and wildlife.
