Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV update brings back Autumn Ring after 13 years

Polyphony Digital announced Gran Turismo 7's Spec IV update at PlayStation's State of Play showcase today — a two-part release arriving in October and December 2026 that brings back a fan-favourite circuit, adds a dozen new cars, and introduces several new modes and features.

The October drop includes Sportsland Sugo, a real Japanese circuit in Miyagi Prefecture that currently hosts Super GT and Super Formula events, making its series debut in GT7. That first chunk also adds six new cars, a Vintage section for cars no longer available to buy new, a Car Concierge function for ordering used and Legend cars, new driving challenges, a new car viewer, and a raised Collector Level cap. The December update then delivers Autumn Ring alongside another six cars, a Family mode aimed at newcomers, a Shuffle Race mode that assigns random cars for a luck-based twist, online drift trials, and a new difficulty tier in the Power Pack.

Autumn Ring is the headline nostalgia hit here. The circuit first appeared in the original Gran Turismo on PS1 and was last playable in Gran Turismo 6 back in 2013 — a 13-year gap. GT7's version includes both the classic layout and a brand-new, greatly expanded variant, so veterans and newcomers alike get something fresh out of it. Gran Turismo 7 launched in 2022 and has received consistent post-launch support from Polyphony, with regular updates adding cars, tracks, and features over the past few years.

The Spec IV reveal was part of a broader State of Play that also featured an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, a clip from the upcoming Resident Evil film directed by Zach Cregger, and two limited-edition GTA 6-themed DualSense controllers. No release window for Spec IV beyond the October and December targets was given.
