GTA 6 and Nintendo titles dominate Amazon US best-sellers so far in 2026

Amazon's US video game best-seller chart for 2026 is topped by GTA 6, followed by four Nintendo titles: Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Star Fox (2026), Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Rounding out the wider top ten are 007 First Light, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Pokémon Legends Z-A, Pokémon Pokopia, and Sonic X Shadow Generations.

The reasons behind each entry vary. GTA 6 is no surprise — it's the year's biggest release regardless of format, and Amazon's chart reflects combined Xbox and PS5 SKU data even though the Xbox listing is displayed. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has been a genuine breakout hit, topping Circana's US charts in April and generating over $41 million in combined physical and projected digital sales; it also helped drive a 44% year-on-year increase in consumer spending on new physical software that month, pushing the category to $96 million. Star Fox (2026) benefits from being a well-reviewed Switch 2 exclusive plus a $10 Amazon discount on physical copies, which directly offsets Nintendo's new digital-to-physical price gap. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond both got a boost from Amazon Prime Day (June 23–26) — Mario + Rabbids dropped as low as $9.99, while Metroid Prime 4 is still discounted to $44.99 at time of writing, with its Switch version having hit $29.99 during the event.

The chart only covers Amazon US and excludes Best Buy, Walmart, Target, GameStop, and global digital storefronts, so it's a partial picture at best. That said, four of the top five slots going to Nintendo exclusives more than a year into the Switch 2's life cycle is a meaningful signal — it suggests the console has built a library strong enough to keep driving hardware and software sales well past launch window.

The broader takeaway is that Nintendo's grip on physical retail momentum looks solid heading into the second half of 2026, with GTA 6 as the one major non-Nintendo force on the chart. Whether that balance shifts once more third-party titles land later in the year remains to be seen.
