GTA 6 fans are split on whether Key West makes it into the game

The GTA 6 community is deep in map speculation again, this time debating whether Key West — the USA's southernmost city, sitting at the tip of the Florida Keys — will appear in Rockstar's take on the Florida coast.

The debate picked up steam after a leaked map surfaced showing what appears to be an early beta version of GTA 6's world. Crucially, this leak is separate from the CyberLeek posts that circulated earlier this summer — and those earlier leaks notably did not include Key West at all. That absence has fuelled a running theory that Key West was planned at some point but cut during development. Reddit user TheHulk305 pushed back on that idea, arguing: "I don't see why they'd work so hard doing all the keys and leave out the most important one Key West. It doesn't seem like a Rockstar thing to do, especially since we even got the Jersey side of New York in GTA 4." Others in the community have floated the idea that Key West might have been folded into a nearby part of the Keys rather than appearing as a distinct location.

It's worth keeping some perspective here. GTA games are famously detailed recreations of real-world cities and regions, but they've never been one-to-one maps — Liberty City compressed and reimagined New York, and Vice City took creative liberties with Miami. A location not appearing in a leaked beta build doesn't confirm it's gone; it could show up scaled down, renamed, or referenced through a nearby area. The leaked map itself may not be accurate at all.

With GTA 6 launching in November, the window for this kind of speculation is closing fast. Key West isn't the only notable question mark hanging over the game — GTA 6 Online still hasn't been officially announced despite significant community excitement around it. Rockstar also has other things on its plate: the studio is currently facing an employment tribunal in Scotland following the dismissal of 31 staff last year, with a verdict expected later in October.
