GTA Online's Kortz Center Heist launches July 14 — first new heist since Cayo Perico in 2020

Rockstar has confirmed the Kortz Center Heist drops in GTA Online on July 14, marking the first brand-new heist added to the game since Cayo Perico back in 2020. Players team up with Mr. Faber and Raf De Angelis to rob the Kortz Center art museum — a location GTA 5 veterans will recognize from the main story mission where Michael and Trevor tangle with Merryweather.

The heist follows the familiar setup-then-finale structure and supports solo play or a crew of up to four. Before the finale, players scope the location to find entry points and secondary targets, then gear up. Stealth pays off: art that's known to be stolen fetches less on the secondary market, so wiping CCTV footage and leaving no witnesses keeps your payout higher. To even start the heist, you'll need to own one of the mansions added to GTA Online late last year and invest in an Art Studio, where a resident counterfeiter creates forgeries to swap for the real pieces. Stolen paintings can either be sold for profit or kept to decorate your mansion. Rockstar is rotating in three new paintings every week to keep things fresh, and the studio promises "tons of variability" in how missions can be approached. GTA+ subscribers get the new Grotti Veleno GT car for free from day one, and the update also adds new vehicles and Hao's Special Works upgrade options. Fans have already spotted that the paintings are packed with Rockstar easter eggs — one appears to reference Roman's death in GTA 4, another is a Red Dead-style frontier scene, and a third crowds in characters like CJ from San Andreas and Dutch from Red Dead Redemption.

GTA Online has been running since 2013 alongside GTA 5, and Rockstar has kept it alive with periodic major updates while GTA 6 approaches its November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Kortz Center Heist could realistically be the last major GTA Online update before that release — the game typically gets big drops in summer and December, but November's launch window makes a December update unlikely. Rockstar has said nothing publicly about whether GTA 6 will launch with its own online mode or whether GTA Online will continue running alongside it, which leaves the long-term future of the current game genuinely uncertain.

Community reaction has been enthusiastic, with players already digging into the easter egg paintings ahead of launch. The bigger question hanging over the update is what comes after — with GTA 6 four months out and no word on its multiplayer component, this heist might be GTA Online's curtain call, or just another chapter in a game that's refused to die for over a decade.
