Gundam Rogue Orbit collector's edition bundles an exclusive HG Helix model kit

Gundam Rogue Orbit got a deep dive at September's PlayStation State of Play, and Bandai Namco also revealed a $160 collector's edition built around something Gunpla fans will actually care about — an exclusive High-Grade model kit of the new Helix mobile suit.

The HG Helix kit is the headline item, and it's a game-exclusive, meaning you won't find it on store shelves later. Beyond the kit, the collector's edition includes a physical copy of the game in a steel case with reversible cover art, a poster, five promo cards, and DLC with 14 color patterns for the Helix in-game. The Helix itself is a 1/144-scale HG build — moderate detail, minimal foil stickers, no heavy tooling required — and the design is packed with panel lines and mechanical detail, so it should be a satisfying build even for casual assemblers. The new trailer also showed alternate shells for the Helix, including an RX-78-2 skin and a red Zaku-inspired look clearly nodding to Char Aznable.

Rogue Orbit is an unusual entry in the Gundam franchise. Bandai Namco typically launches new Gundam properties as anime series first, with model kits following — the game-first approach here is a genuine departure. The franchise has a long history of video game adaptations, but most have been based on existing anime properties rather than original concepts built from the ground up for a game release.
