Halo: Campaign Evolved secret ending teases a Halo 2 remake

Halo: Campaign Evolved launched early for Premium and Collector's Edition buyers, and within a single day players have already found a hidden cutscene that strongly hints at a Halo 2 remake. Beat the game on Legendary difficulty and Sergeant Johnson shows up for a secret ending that closes with the line "See you in the sequel" — hard to read that any other way.

There's a second post-credits scene on top of that: 343 Guilty Spark flies toward a planet, seemingly heading toward Arbiter and the setup for Halo 2's story. Both scenes were captured and uploaded by YouTube channel GamersPrey. Despite the obvious winking, Halo Studios and Xbox have not officially announced a Halo 2 remake, so nothing is confirmed yet. The full game launches July 28, 2026, and IGN scored it 7/10, calling it "a lean retread that's more of a test run for its future with Unreal Engine."

Halo 2 originally launched on the original Xbox in 2004 and got a remaster as part of the Master Chief Collection in 2014, so a full ground-up remake would be the next logical step in whatever Halo Studios is building. That picture got a little murkier last week when YouTuber Rebs Gaming and Windows Central reported that Halo Studios had canceled a multiplayer project codenamed Ekur, which was being developed by Certain Affinity. That leaves Campaign Evolved as the only new single-player Halo content on the horizon for now.

Community reaction to the secret ending has been enthusiastic — the tease is about as unsubtle as it gets, and fans are treating it as a near-confirmation. Whether Halo Studios follows through with an announcement soon or lets the mystery sit for a while longer is anyone's guess.
