Jay and Silent Bob are getting a weed farming sim in 2027

Jay and Silent Bob's Joint Venture is a cosy farming sim where you build a weed business from the ground up — literally. Developed by Starworks Studios, it's heading to Steam sometime in 2027.

The premise leans hard into the duo's stoner dealer roots: you start with a trashed yard, some old tools, and a handful of seeds, then grow it into a full weed operation. The Steam description frames it as a throwback to pre-corporate cannabis — "slinging dank dimes outside the Quick Stop." Beyond the farming loop, you can experiment with different weed varieties, upgrade your home, go dumpster diving, and interact with dozens of characters from Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse. Familiar locations from Clerks show up too — the Mall, RST Video, and the Quick Stop itself.

Jay and Silent Bob have been a cult fixture since their debut in Kevin Smith's 1994 film Clerks, where they played eccentric weed dealers hanging outside a convenience store. The characters have since appeared across the entire View Askewniverse — Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and three Clerks films — and have recently been making the rounds in games. Mall Brawl, a NES-style beat 'em up, came out in 2020, and Atari published Chronic Blunt Punch, another brawler with a comic book look, in April. There are also two mobile games, a VR project in development, and the pair even cameoed in Black Ops 6.

The track record on those games isn't exactly inspiring — neither Mall Brawl nor Chronic Blunt Punch made much noise on Steam. Joint Venture is a different pitch, though, betting on writing and fan service over arcade action. Starworks Studios previously made the 3D platformer Timeworks and is also working on Boast Guards. Whether there's enough appetite for a Jay and Silent Bob farming sim is the real question — 2027 will answer it.
