Kingdom Come: Deliverance is becoming a $200 board game from Czech Games Edition

Czech Games Edition is turning Kingdom Come: Deliverance into a tabletop RPG, and it's already up for preorder at $200. The game is designed by Tomáš Holek and Vlaada Chvátil — two well-regarded names in the board game world — and is slated to release in Q1 next year.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game follows the same basic arc as the video game: you start as a dirt-poor peasant and claw your way up through medieval Bohemia, training as an archer, a thief, or a silver-tongued talker, dealing with unpredictable locals along the way. It supports solo play or up to four players. The component list is, to put it mildly, extensive — a main map board, four double-layer player boards, a merchant board, a potions board, a day board, 12 horse tiles, 30 animal tiles, 36 herb tiles, 55 enemy tiles, 40 wound tiles, 180-plus small tokens covering herbs, meat, mushrooms, and dirt, three town alertness tracks, 75 coin tokens, over 240 item cards, 55 side quests, 10 full storylines with their own dedicated cards and tiles, and 164 player pieces. That's before you get to the sin cards, virtue cards, spawn cards, and two cardboard card stands.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance launched in 2018 from Czech studio Warhorse and built a devoted following around its unusually demanding simulation of medieval life — realistic hunger, sleep, and equipment systems, plus a leveling structure that punishes button-mashing in favor of practiced skill. The sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, arrived earlier this year and expanded on that formula. Czech Games Edition, meanwhile, is the studio behind acclaimed titles like Codenames and Through the Ages, so the pedigree on the tabletop side is legitimate. Vlaada Chvátil in particular is one of the most decorated designers in modern board gaming.

Preorders are open now on the Czech Games Edition site. At $200 it's a serious ask, but given the sheer volume of components and the names attached, it's clearly aimed at players who want the full experience rather than a casual spin-off.
