Kingdom Hearts Union χ is getting an unofficial browser port — cutscenes, Dark Road, and all

A fan developer known as Arena7664 has announced an unofficial browser port of Kingdom Hearts Union χ and its companion story Dark Road, bringing two delisted mobile games back to life ahead of Kingdom Hearts IV.

Union χ shut down in 2021 and has been effectively inaccessible ever since — a significant problem given that the Master of Masters, a character whose story is almost entirely confined to that game, is set to play a central role in Kingdom Hearts IV. Dark Road, which covers Xehanort's origins and his fall to darkness, is also tied to the upcoming game. The port is based on the final version of the mobile app, so Union χ itself won't be fully playable — only its cutscenes are viewable. Dark Road, however, is fully playable, because an offline version was made available before the servers went down. Arena7664 also confirmed a handful of quality-of-life improvements to speed up Dark Road's gameplay.

Kingdom Hearts has always had an accessibility problem. The series spans over a dozen entries across platforms ranging from Game Boy Advance to mobile, and Square Enix has never released a single complete collection. Union χ was particularly hard to preserve — its story ran as a live service with no official offline mode for the main campaign. Fans have previously uploaded a full fan-dubbed playthrough to YouTube, but this port marks the first time the actual application has been made available to players who missed it during its active run. It also arrives alongside another recent piece of recovered Kingdom Hearts history: the opening cinematic of the canceled mobile game Missing Link leaked publicly just weeks ago.

With Kingdom Hearts IV generating serious hype and Disney visibly doubling down on the franchise, this fan port lands at the right moment for anyone wanting to get caught up before the new game arrives. No exact release date has been given yet, but Arena7664 described the launch as imminent.
