Kingdom Hearts Deep Dive panel confirmed for D23 on August 15

Disney has confirmed a dedicated Kingdom Hearts panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, scheduled for August 15 at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. The biennial fan event runs August 14–16, and the Kingdom Hearts session is one of the more intriguing slots on the schedule for gamers.

The panel is titled "Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts" and will be held on D23's Backlot Stage. The official description reads: "Join us for a journey through light and darkness as we commemorate 25 years of KINGDOM HEARTS. Discover how this saga united Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix, with insights from the creative minds, character voices, and more behind the magic." No specific names from Square Enix or the voice cast have been announced yet, though other D23 panels feature confirmed Disney talent. The Kingdom Hearts franchise's actual 25th anniversary falls in March 2027 — Disney is celebrating a few months early.

The panel lands at a genuinely busy moment for the series. Kingdom Hearts 4 got a new trailer during a Nintendo Direct last month, confirming a simultaneous console and PC release including Nintendo Switch 2. Kingdom Hearts Collection 1-3, a repackaging of 11 titles from the franchise, is due October 8 on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. The series itself launched in 2002 as an unlikely crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy, developed by Square Enix, and has grown into a sprawling RPG saga spanning more than a dozen entries.

Fans are understandably hoping the panel delivers more than a retrospective — specifically a new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer or release window, neither of which Square Enix has provided yet. D23 sits just after San Diego Comic-Con and right before Gamescom, making August a potentially significant month for the franchise. Whether Square Enix shows up with something new or keeps it celebratory remains the open question.
